Meet Katie
Originally from Poulsbo, I know this area well and am familiar with both the climate and local gardening resources. My expertise comes from years of planning and cultivating a local garden on eight acres of land in North Kitsap County. I boldly try new techniques, grow new plants, and embrace my mistakes along the way. My trials and errors benefit my clients because I have attained a wealth of knowledge of what plants will grow in this area and how they can best thrive.
I began gardening at an early age. My love of growing food and flowers blossomed as I worked alongside my parents, all while learning valuable skills that are not taught in a traditional classroom. The connection of nature with gardening took deep roots in me. As I recognized my privilege in learning gardening in a hands-on approach, gaining valuable generational wisdom that is so often lost, I became passionate about sharing what I have learned with others. What began with helping friends evolved into formal training and certification through Gardenary and now as a professional gardening consultation service.
Science has revealed the huge benefits to our brains and bodies when we spend time in nature and connect with the Earth. In this fast-paced life of modern society, I believe in the importance of slowing down, getting outside, and working with hands in the dirt, literally and figuratively grounding us.
